Biographie
William Hope Hodgson
William Hope Hodgson est né dans le Comté d'essex en 1877. Fils de pasteur, il quitte très jeune sa famille et naviguera pendant huit ans. Cette expérience très dure marquera sa vie personnelle mais également son travail d'écrivain. Lorsque éclate la Première Guerre mondiale, il s'engage dans l'armée et est tué au front. C'est en dix années d'écriture qu'il écrivit l'ensemble de ses ouvrages parmi lesquels on compte quelques-uns des textes les plus importants de la littérature fantastique : La Chose dans les algues, Les Canots du Glen Carrig, Le Pays de la Nuit, ou encore La Maison au bord du Monde.
